Consecutive interpretation

An interpreter is a mediator for people facing language barriers. They convert a thought or expression into an expression with an identical meaning in a target language. The function of the interpreter is to convey each semantic element (tone and register) and all the goals and feelings of the message that the speaker of the target language directs to the recipients of the target language.

In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter speaks after the speaker in the starting language stops speaking. The speech is divided into segments and the interpreter sits next to the speaker in the starting language (sitting or standing) and takes notes as the speaker presents his / her message.   Consecutive interpreting services

When the speaker pauses or stops speaking, the interpreter translates part or all of the message into the target language. Discourses or parts of speeches interpreted consecutively are by default short. Fifty years ago, the consecutive interpreter translated speeches of 20 or 30 minutes; however, segments of 10 or 15 minutes are now considered too large.

Sometimes, however, depending on the environment or subject matter and the ability to memorize the interpreter, the interpreter may ask the speaker to pause after each sentence or sentence.
